The Legacy of Winston Churchill By William Bowles – Global Research “I do not understand this sqeamishness about the use of gas. I am strongly in favour of using poison gas against uncivilised tribes.” — Winston Churchill 1920 Now let me get this straight: In order to save civilian lives (the infamous ‘Right to Protect’), the Empire, through its Rottweiller NATO, not only deindustrializes Libya but it also causes a mass exodus of refugees hundreds of whom drowned and many thousands more were left stranded, attacked and abused. The Pirates attempted to assassinate Gaddafi but succeeded in killing women and children instead. The Pirates bomb ……. [Full Post]

Why the NATO powers are trying to assassinate Muammar Gaddafi

Protecting civilians or western oil companies? By Brian Becker – Liberation Wikileaks-released State Department cables from November 2007 and afterwards show the real reason for the mounting U.S. hostility to the Libyan government prior to the current civil war. NATO has been dropping devastating bunker-busting bombs on Muammar Gaddafi’s home in an attempt to assassinate him. One son and several grandchildren have died but Gaddafi has survived. The State Department cables give background to the hostility directed against Gaddafi by the United States and other NATO powers. One State Department cable from November 2007 (Wikileaks reference ID 07TRIPOLI967) sounds the alarm of “growing evidence of ……. [Full Post]

Globalist Spin & the Syrian Unrest

Cartoonish propaganda punctuates the last leg of the “Arab Spring.” by Tony Cartalucci Land Destroyer In January 2011, the unrest in Tunisia and Egypt took many by surprise. Amidst the confusion, the global elite and their nefarious networks of NGOs, civil society organizations, and foreign-funded, trained, and armed opposition groups were able to dislodge the governments in both nations. As similar gambits were being simultaneously triggered in Yemen, Syria, Bahrain, Algeria, and Libya, the alternative press as well as networks like PressTV and Russia Today began airing the possibility that these were in fact engineered events rather than “spontaneous” uprisings. Now half a year into ……. [Full Post]

M.K.Bhadrakumar Asia Times 10th May, 2011 Consultations by Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi in Moscow at the weekend were expected to prepare the ground for the visit by President Hu Jintao to Russia next month. In the event, however, they assumed a character of immense significance to international security. Sustained Russian-Chinese efforts to “coordinate” their stance on regional and international issues have been taken to a qualitatively new level with regard to the developing Middle East situation. The official Russian news agency used an unusual expression – “tight cooperation” – to characterize the new template to which their coordination of regional policies had been taken. ……. [Full Post]

By Aleksey Pushkov – Russia Today Amid the flurry of comments on the operation that killed the world’s No. 1 terrorist Osama bin Laden, the war in Libya cannot boast of any achievements of similar proportions and is clearly taking longer than expected. Thus, it is no wonder that the killing of Muammar Gaddafi, another “enemy of the civilized world,” is on the agenda today. Evidently, when Barack Obama said that Gaddafi must go, he expected that the latter would obsequiously follow his order. But no such luck. “The Obama administration imagined that a taste of the lash would put Gaddafi in his place,” writes ……. [Full Post]

Libya: The Bizarro War

We’re killing civilians in order to save them By Justin Raimondo – Anti-War.com Flying unopposed over Libyan airspace, NATO’s fighter planes bombed the residence of the Gadhafi family, killing his youngest son and three grandchildren. What a glorious victory for the defenders of innocent civilians! The NATO-crats, of course, deny targeting either Gadhafi or his family members: those much-touted high-tech weapons, with their “precision” targeting capabilities, seem to have had a very convenient breakdown. But at least one Republican Senator wasn’t fooled. Lindsey Graham had this to say: I support what NATO did. I thought this was a good use of the mandate. This is ……. [Full Post]

By Felicity Arbuthnot – Global Research “And you all also may remember that early on, I said if you hide a terrorist, if you feed a terrorist, if you provide comfort to a terrorist, you’re just as guilty as the terrorist. “ George W. Bush. (Address to US., troops, Alaska, 16th February 2002.) Given the ferocity of the attack on Libya, the country Tony Blair credited himself with bringing in from the cold and turning in to a new trading partner, Colonel Qadhafi, has been remarkably conciliatory. On 5th., April he wrote to President Obama, more in sorrow than in anger.(i) The irony of a ……. [Full Post]

The mission was to kill Gadhafi (to protect civilians naturally). They missed him and killed one of his sons and three of his grandchildren instead. So – the UK/US/NATO death toll tally on Gadhafi’s family from bombing to date: One adopted daughter back in 1986 One son Three grandchildren BUT – repeat after me: This is not terrorism…. This is not terrorism…. This is not terrorism…. This is not terrorism…. This is not terrorism…. In NATO-speak it’s unfortunate ‘Collateral damage‘ which translated means something like: We didn’t mean to kill them honest injun -  but children really ought to know better than to stay close ……. Analysis of Syrian protest movement and its historical context

Hat tip to Steven Gowans Here’s Mazda Majidi, always worth reading, on Syria. A refreshing alternative to Gilbert Achcar and the infinitely gullible/credulous Establishment sections of the Western liberal Left: The revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia have thrown into question all established authorities in the Arab world and unleashed political forces everywhere that see this as a golden opportunity to make their bid for power. This does not mean each one of these forces is progressive. It is not possible at this point to weigh the relative strength, or politically characterize, all the various trends within the Syrian opposition movement. The current protest movement appears ……. NATO’s Kosovo Air War Redux

By Stephen Gowans NATO’s military intervention in Libya began as an enforcement of a no-fly zone to protect civilians but has quickly morphed into an attack on civilian targets to undermine the morale of Gaddafi loyalists in order to turn them against the country’s leader. NATO has struck Gaddafi’s residence repeatedly, and in recent days attacked a TV broadcast center. If it sounds like a rerun of NATO’s 1999 air war on Yugoslavia, when NATO showered bombs on civilian targets in order to “protect” civilians, that’s because NATO has dusted off an old script. The campaign over Libya, according to senior US officers, draws on ……. [Full Post]
